URBANA, Ill. (AP) — A former University of Illinois gymnastics coach has pleaded guilty to videotaping a gymnast in a campus locker room.

Jon Valdez, who also was the personal coach of Beijing Olympian Justin Spring, pleaded guilty to one count of unauthorized videotaping Tuesday in an Urbana courtroom.

Champaign County State's Attorney Julia Rietz says Valdez was sentenced to two years of probation and 50 hours of community service.

Chicago attorney Lance Northcutt represented Valdez. Northcutt says the former coach hopes the plea puts the episode behind him.
